About this course:
This course covers the necessary skills to successfully complete client assessment, evaluation, and documentation to establish effective short-term and long-term goals and objectives for horticultural therapy clients. Students will learn about and practice the development of horticultural activities, activity modification, therapeutic interactive techniques, and adaptive tools, equipment, and devices for a variety of program settings. Specific attention will be given to the use of indoor and outdoor plants for programming, and the evaluation and utilization of indoor and outdoor spaces for the therapeutic use of horticulture. This course uses a combination of online learning, guest speakers, field trips, and hands-on activities to provide an understanding of the techniques that lead to the establishment of effective and successful horticultural therapy program plan development.The Horticultural Therapy course series, approved by the American Horticultural Therapy Association (AHTA), equips you with the skills to implement evidence-based techniques in specialized treatment and wellness care settings.
