Certificate Programs for International Students

Upon Completing Your Certificate

For International Students

The Next Steps

Upon satisfactory completion of your program, you will be eligible to receive a gold seal certificate and be eligible to attend the annual graduation ceremony in late spring. Official UCLA Extension transcripts will be available at the end of each academic quarter. The transcript will report all of your UCLA and UCLA Extension courses as well as the grades and academic credit that you earned for each course.

Certificate Program Completion

After you complete the last class in your certificate program, you have a 60-day grace period during which you can remain in the U.S. to plan your next steps. You can do any of the following:

  • Plan for your return to your home country
  • Transfer your I-20 to another U.S. school to start another program within 5 months
  • Apply for another UCLA Extension Certificate Program
  • Apply for and engage in Optional Practical Training. You remain in F-1 status while on OPT. During OPT you must maintain your health insurance, keep your contact information current, and inform your ISS advisor if you change employers.

Please note: If you depart the U.S. at any point during your grace period, your F-1 visa status will end and you will not be able to return to the U.S. on your F-1 visa. Please plan any grace-period travel accordingly.

Stay in Touch

When you graduate, you join the Bruin family! You can activate your UCLA Alumni Association membership and take advantage of networking opportunities.

Remember to stay in touch and continue to update your contact information via the Student Portal.
