Gouache, a opaque, water-soluble medium similar to watercolor, is perfect for beginners. In this four-week workshop, students will learn to paint from still-life, photo and/or plain-air, focusing on value study and shapes.

What you can learn.

  • Explore fundamental concepts such as value study, shape and composition
  • Introduce the practice of using a small sketchbook as a playground to sketch daily
  • Making painting and sketching a part of your routine
  • Practice both studio still-life and plein-air observational painting

About this course:

Gouache, a opaque, water-soluble medium similar to watercolor, is perfect for beginners. In this four-week workshop, students will learn to paint from still-life, photo and/or plain-air, focusing on value study and shapes. Other exercise will includes quick, small daily painting to build one’s habit to become a better artist. Students will also experience plein air landscape painting in an outdoor environment.
