These unique and exciting courses will help you, as an au pair working in the United States, to gain the most from your American experience.

This program can also satisfy the U.S. Department of State au pair educational requirement.

Most au pairs can earn all the hours they need by completing two of our very affordable 3-day weekend courses, which are offered throughout the year, plus pre- and post-assignments.

Students can fulfill their educational requirements in a fun, engaging and flexible way through a self-paced learning environment, attending our virtual weekends, or a blend of both options.

Program offerings:

Performing Arts: Theater, Music, TV/Film

Deepen your understanding of the performing arts through classes, hands-on workshops, and excursions throughout Los Angeles. Participate in workshops on drama and music, taught by artists in the field. Learn about the history of the film and TV industry, with a particular emphasis on Hollywood.

You will have an opportunity to see a live performance, as well as tour some of the most famous theaters and concert halls in Los Angeles. Throughout the weekend, this course places an emphasis on creativity and the importance of using it in your personal and professional lives.

Visual Arts: Art, Architecture, Photography

Deepen your understanding of the visual arts through classes, hands-on workshops, and excursions throughout Los Angeles. Participate in workshops on art and photography, taught by artists in the field. Learn about art history and its influence on social media and pop culture today, as well as street art throughout Los Angeles. Explore the area’s architecture and visit several well-known museums.

You will also practice your photography skills during a Hollywood photo challenge. Throughout the weekend, this course places an emphasis on creativity and the importance of using it in your personal and professional lives.

Deepen your understanding of the performing arts through classes, hands-on workshops, and excursions throughout New York City. Participate in workshops on drama and music, taught by artists in the field.

Learn about the history of drama, with a particular emphasis on Broadway and the importance of the New York theater scene. You will also have an opportunity to see a live performance and visit the famous Broadway theater district. During the weekend, this course places an emphasis on creativity and the importance of using it in your personal and professional lives.

Visual Arts: Art, Architecture, Photography

Deepen your understanding of the visual arts through classes, hands-on workshops, and excursions throughout New York City. Participate in workshops on art and photography, taught by artists in the field.

Learn about art history and see some of New York City’s most recognized architectural landmarks, as well as visit one of the city’s many world-famous art museums. You will also get the opportunity to practice your photography skills at Times Square, and other famous Manhattan locations.

Through a fun and interesting combination of classroom discussions, community activities, and student assignments, you will learn important skills for dealing with the cultural and personal challenges that international visitors often face in the U.S.

You will have unique opportunities to reflectively look at U.S. cultural perspectives to see how they influence your relationships and communication with others.

Certain classes will discuss how to engage and participate in a variety of community experiences. You will also examine the rich cultural diversity of U.S. communities, with a specific focus on the city you choose.

In addition to gaining a greater understanding of the United States and the Chicago, San Antonio, or San Francisco area, you will also have the opportunity to share your home country's culture with other students and compare it to key aspects of American life.

You will gain in-depth knowledge of U.S. geography while also learning about exciting events in U.S. history and how they have influenced the current U.S. political culture and process.

Through various field trips and activities, you will be able to explore and further understand the important historical and cultural identity of the city that you’ve learned about in class.
