About this course:
Part III offers skin professionals in all sectors of industry an in-depth look at the causes, physiology and biochemical processes of common skin conditions. Beginning with a foundational understanding of the stratum corneum and epidermis, the following is reviewed: corneobiology and corneotherapy; epidermal aging; skin penetration & delivery vehicles; inflammation & skin’s immune system; exfoliants (AHAs, salicylic acid, enzymes & non-acid resurfacers); pigmentation, hyperpigmentation & ‘brightening’; effects of hormones on peri, menopausal skin & pregnant skin; stress effects on skin; and common skin conditions, including dry, dehydrated, sensitive, rosacea, acne and comedogenicity. Cosmetic and drug ingredient technologies currently found in cosmetics and OTC drugs, as well as technologies now emerging from research labs around the world, will be discussed within the framework of each skin condition.Winter 2025 Schedule
