About This Course
Born in 1809, Felix Mendelssohn was one of the most prominent composers and pianists of the 19th century. The grandson of the renowned Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelssohn, Felix received an illustrious education from an early age and became one of the most celebrated prodigies of the Romantic period. In this course, we listen to some of his most significant works, including the Violin Concerto, the overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Scottish and Italian symphonies, Songs without Words, and his monumental oratorio, Elijah. This course will be recorded. Students will have access to videos for the duration of the course.
