MSE 252. Organic Polymer Electronic Materials. (Instructor: Pei, Q.B.) Lecture, four hours; discussion, one hour; outside study, seven hours. Preparation: knowledge of introductory organic chemistry and polymer science. Introduction to organic electronic materials with emphasis on materials chemistry and processing. Topics include conjugated polymers; heavily doped, highly conducting polymers; applications as processable metals and in various electrical, optical, and electrochemical devices. Synthesis of semiconductor polymers for organic light-emitting diodes, solar cells, thin-film transistors. Introduction to emerging field of organic electronics. Letter grading.Corporate Education
