Instructor Biography:

Valerie Brandy, MFA, is a Los Angeles–based screenwriter, filmmaker, and #1 Amazon bestselling author. Ms. Brandy served as a staff writer for Walt Disney Studios’ live-action feature division under an exclusive deal, developing original projects for Disney+, with additional work for Warner Bros., FX, Universal, and the Disney Channel. She is the co-founder of Emerald Lion Press, LLC., where she writes and publishes bestselling mystery novels that consistently rank among Amazon’s top genre titles and have received five-star acclaim from Indies Today. As a filmmaker, she wrote, directed, and starred in the award-winning feature Lola’s Last Letter, distributed by Sony’s The Orchard, and her second feature, A Unified Theory of Love, has completed post-production. Ms. Brandy is a member of the Writers Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, and the Alliance of Women Directors, and she has been recognized by the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.
