Robert McKee
I earned my MA in 1990 and my PhD in 2012, both from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I consider myself a generalist with specialties in research methods, urban studies, race, and culture. My doctoral dissertaion was a 3-year ethnographic case study of a protest group in the historically African American community of West Las Vegas. I received the Denzin award for qualitative research (2010), the Public Sociologist of the Year award (2012) and the Dissertation of the Year award (2013). I published one textbook: Community Action against Racism in West Las Vegas (2014) and numerous journal articles. I have taught, urban studies, research methods, marriage and family, and introduction to sociology among other courses. I am married with two adult children and I currently live with my wife in Monmouth, Oregon.
