About this course:

Covering the years 1800-1900, this course offers a comprehensive understanding of the cultural heritages, political institutions, economic developments, and social interactions that created our contemporary society. Instruction emphasizes the rise of more democratic institutions, the end of slavery, and the rise of the U.S. as an industrial and military power in an increasingly capitalistic world economy.
